
First things first – and without sugarcoating anything ever –, you must be aware that you should only use this type of supplements if, due to your specific diet or lifestyle (please remember that physically active people normally need more micronutrients than sedentary people), you need to supply your body with extra doses of micronutrients or other substances that can help you improve your health condition and nutrition (or if your doctor or blood work results tell you you should). Otherwise, you’ll be just wasting your hard-earned money, or, even worse, putting your health at risk (precisely the contrary of what you’re trying to achieve).
In my specific case – especially thanks to my special diet – I believe this type of natural dietary supplements provide me with the right doses of micronutrients I need, therefore I use and recommend them for those in similar conditions, based on my research on the usefulness, safety, and efficacy of each, according to either empirical evidence (with some studies being more robust than others, depending on the specific case) or even anecdotical one (which, despite being substantially inferior to the former, shouldn’t be fully discarded, especially when no scientific studies have been performed yet).
NOTE: With this in mind, you must always take into account that there’s no point in even worrying about taking supplements if your diet isn’t nutritionally varied and well-balanced (and this is even truer for this particular class of supplements). They simply won’t work! There’s a reason why this category of products is called “supplements” and not “substitutes”. As the name implies, they’re used to SUPPLEMENT your diet, not to replace it (nor to prevent or treat any disease).
